...last night my 16 yo came to me and said, "Mom, I want you to know I really like math now. It's my favorite subject. I finally know what I am doing." We started with Book One in April and he's almost completed the Geometry book. The Pre-Algebra book required a great deal more time than either of us were expecting. I'm looking forward to seeing what happens when he gets into Algebra 1. Thank you again for all your work in this area. ~Florence B. Rockville, VA

...my son Michael, who was basically an unschooler throughout "high school" managed to get a perfect score on the math portion of the GED.
Kind of funny actually and a very credible score on the ACT (total score 25).
Of course, he only studied math (using your books and others) for about 2 months before GED and three months before ACT.
Just goes to show how much time is wasted in school learning the same thing! ~Michele

Thank you! We are enjoying the program so far. My son has dyslexia, so math has been a challenge.
The pace of this program is perfect. Hoping that it continues to go well.

I wanted to thank you for this product. I have 10 children and many of them learn differently. I have a few children that just were not getting Math, no matter what books I pulled out. On a whim, I decided to try these. They had a 30 day money back guarantee, but the book had so much use in the first 3 weeks, I would have been embarrassed to return it. Even my children that "get" Math have grown with the timed tests and the geometry book. Most days he timed part is a great challenge for them- trying to get to the next one. Mainly my note is about the child that was struggling the most. She will never be a mathematician, but she is understanding and it is very seldom that she needs my help because of the self explanatory lessons. She probably will never love math, but the basics are sinking it. I thank you for making this available for us. God Bless you!

Eleven months ago Kim sent this email to Learn Math Fast:
Hi, I have a boy that has Muscular Dystrophy and has learning problems in Math.
He is going into 9th grade in the fall. He is about 3 maybe 4 years behind in
Math. Do you think that this curriculum will help him? I have tried Touch Math and Math-U-See and he is still struggling
and just can't understand Math.
Kim purchased the Learn Math Fast System and then sent this email on April 5, 2013:
This Math curriculum is the best!
My son has always struggled in math, until I found Learn Math Fast System.
He is in the 9th grade and is almost caught up to where he needs to be.
We started in August 2012. Thank you so much for writing this curriculum. ~Kim Simpson

I truly believe your system was a God send for my family.
My daughter was just not getting math and I was unable to convey to her the way I learned so
we tried many a different ways and methods. Nothing was catching...until Learn Math fast.
Now she is a wiz at math.
Thank you all and know I am telling all my homeschool and non home school friends about this system.

Just wanted to thank you for such a great product. Your customer service is top-notch. I ordered a bunch of books and didn't quite understand what I
ordered. The email exchange I had with you was very helpful and I appreciated your patience and kindness.
Second, this program is working wonders for us. We purposely delayed math in our homeschool, waiting until 5th grade to start a formal study of symbolic math. The other programs I tried made my 11yo feel "stupid" and incompetent because of all the cartoons, songs and other fluff used to make the programs more palatable for young students, and the lack of clear concept explanation.
LMF has us flying through the Vol 1 concepts, which is the whole reason I delayed teaching symbolic math to begin with: So we could speed through the first 5 years of math in about 6mo with a strong understanding of the why, not just the how. Instead of plodding through a lot of extraneous busywork and manipulatives, we are getting down to the meat of math and quickly grasping the concepts. We easily complete a lesson in 1-3 days. Everything is explained so clearly.
It is also helping us get our our 3rd grader, who really wanted to try public school and enrolled in March, up to speed quickly.
I have purchased a lot of different curriculum and have disliked most of it for one reason or another. This (along with AVKO Sequential Spelling) is one of two curriculum purchases that I don't at all regret and will use in its entirety.
Thanks for writing it. God bless, Kimm

...my son and I got through the algebra 1 and geometry books in less than two months...best stuff out there.
He had no real high school math (homeschoolers) and wanted to take his GED (end of March) and now wants to take the ACT...so
your work is much appreciated... I am not only a homeschool parent (son is now 20) but also a homeschool private teacher with a Masters degree from Bank Street. And while I LOVE doing math with kids, I have been challenged finding reasonable texts such that I can learn along with my son (used to be very good at math but its been awhile). Most books are simply impossible for the density of text and less than transparent explanations). The way you designed these books (both content and visually) make them extremely useful for homeschool teaching (probably teaching in schools too). Just made more sense to me than anything else I have looked at...don't get me started on [Brand name omitted]...I know everyone likes this series but the upper level books are painful to plow through. I just don't "get" them...very confusing. Anyway, look forward to getting the next volume.

We are really enjoying your curriculum and my daughter seems to "get it now". I only wish I would have known about this with my son.
My daughter finished her math quickly today and had every problem correct. She said she actually felt smart. This never, ever happened with any of the other curriculums we tried and we have tried many. That is why I was so excited to see your new book coming out. Thanks again for providing such a wonderful curriculum. ~Dedra

Found this anonymous post on an online forum:
My daughter had been struggling with fractions as well. Someone on here mention a math program called Learn Math Fast, so I went to check it out. Come to find out, the sample they have on their website was for fractions. I printed it off and went over the first couple of pages with my daughter. She got to the worksheet, and got all of the problems correct on her first try. Later in the day, she came to me and told me she had finished all the sample pages, and that it was easy. I couldn't believe it! A child who hated frations, and not very mathy, doing math on her own, and then telling me that fractions were easy! Here is the link for the sample page.

We are really enjoying the Learn Maths Fast technique! Thank you so much for making it so easy to teach -- and to learn.
...My 16 year old is really enjoying breezing through Book 1 at a few minutes of maths each day!
And her brain is benefitting from it: her mental arithmetic is improving and she can see it too!
And as I'm teaching it all, mine is improving.
I'm also fascinated to see that you are teaching a lot of the things I was taught in school in England. :-)

We are enjoying the program and my son made the statement that "before I just
did the math, now I understand why you do the math! He is quite good at
following directions and computations, however, I knew he was missing the why
you do it. Thank you and we are anxiously waiting for the Alegbra and beyond
books to be released! ~Rox Ann

Thank you Thank you! Like other testimonials, we bounced around once we got into high school math and My son should have been advanced but because in the high school maths we were having a hard time finding something he was starting to lose his edge and become frustrated and discouraged. Learn math fast enabled him to get caught up and back on track. He will be finished with his high school math before his Junior year! My daughter needed to get caught up after same experience and having loop holes. Learn Math fast fixed her loop holes and now she too is back on track! Thank you Learn Math Fast! ~Kellie

I was so thankful to find the Learn Math Fast system just when my 13 year old was really needing a way to catch up quickly without a bunch of fluff.
I love that it uses money as the basis for teaching ... so practical!
My son is really getting the times tables, finally. So far we have been thrilled with the method used in the books and my son's success.
He can work independently and still really understand what he's learning.
It was such a blessing to have books that look more serious and not little-kiddy
even though they begin by teaching through some of the more basic concept.
Thank you! ~ Heather

I promised you an update as I had my daugh work through the volumes. she is currently done with vol.1 and almost done with vol.2.
She had a lot of resistance to beginning with vol.1 b/c she is 16 yrs old and felt it was so baby stuff.
We explained to her the necessity of it b/c we had switched her math so often that she had too much advice from different sources so needed to
re-boot her with math in its entirety from one source.
So it worked..she flew through the vol. with minor errors, more from carelessness than inability .
She did bog down a bit at the end with long division with dec.
She is doing well in vol.2. and finally understanding decimals and percents. so this is good.
She no longer seems to have an attitude that she is doing baby stuff, she just does it and has success.
So I think if the child can get past that attitude part and see they need to come away with confidence they will have success.
I will continue to post you as we complete each volume.
P.S. I just had a fellow homeschooler give me an SOS call about her son and math and said ok, here is what i would do,
instead of switching out to this or that curr, only to be in the same place a few mos from now.
I believe she is convinced to give you a try...
Blessings ~ K.K.

Email received from Valerie:
I purchased your math program for my daughter. She is working through the program and enjoying math now...I am interested in the next book to purchase. I am going to use these books with my son too. Thanks for your great math program...I would like to add that my daughter has really struggled with upper level math and would get so discouraged and frustrated. I wanted to give her a break from Algebra 1 and start the new school year with a total review of everything so that she can build up are confidence again. I have tried so many programs and was very interested in purchasing Math U See but I couldn't purchase all the levels so she could review everything in math. Then I found your program online and I am very pleased with everything that it covered within the books. My daughter feels so much more experiences in dealing with percents and measurements than she has ever been and she made the statement that this knowledge has been very helpful with her new job and shopping for things on sale too. She has a better attitude and I think it will really help her to continue with Algeba 1 and 2 and/or Geometry in the future...She is moving quickly through the books and wants to get through the whole program so she will be confident for her testing this school year. ~Valerie

Bits and pieces from a review by www.HomeschoolHeartandMind.blogspot.com Read the full review on Susan's website.
This is David. [Picture omitted] He’s my firstborn. He’s smart. He’s spunky.
He’s good at figuring things out in his head.
But he hates math.
In fact, elementary arithmetic convinced him that he was stupid. He just
couldn’t memorize those math facts and I despaired of him being able to catch
up before high school.
After all the searching and researching and trying of different math
programs---we’ve used Right Start, Making Math Meaningful, Math Mammoth, Keys
to, Math on the Level, JUMP…
...I found the solution. Learn Math Fast is the spine for his 7th
grade math program this year. Let me tell you about why this
program is uniquely suited to my child’s situation...
Learn Math Fast is different from any other math program I have
ever tried (remember all those programs I mentioned earlier?). While
many math programs aimed at the elementary grades are heavily problems
based, LMF begins each lesson with text addressed to the student in a relaxed,
conversational style, explaining the concepts quite clearly and giving plenty
of examples.
My son has always (always!) complained that he wishes math books would
just talk to him, rather than giving him endless problem sets. If you
have a child who learns well by reading, this program is worth a look for that
reason alone. I’ve found that worktext-based programs (like Math Mammoth, for
instance) were too brief in their explanation and seemed to crowd the page with
problems.
If you child doesn’t learn well by reading, it’s very easy to read the
chapter and then teach it, using the examples given with real-world
manipulatives (we also used this approach with success).
Another other big difference in LMF: it uses our
base ten system to optimal advantage in its use of money as its main example
for just about everything! This is truly brilliant.
I have always used coins a lot for things like counting and adding, and, of
course, adding up money, by LMF takes it further than that. Coins are
used to explain fractions, percents, decimals, and how they all relate to one
another. And there is emphasis placed on seeing the connection between those
three topics. They are covered one right after the other, so the student can’t
help but put them together, unlike many programs that might cover some
fractions one year and then not cover decimals until the next year.
LMF will teach you math tricks with a purpose.
What I like about this is that not only does the author teach you the trick,
she explains to you why it works and they are genuinely useful tricks. For
instance, how to quickly mentally calculate 20%, 30%, or 40% of a number...
But probably the biggest different in LMF is the tightness of focus. There’s no
extra fluff, here...

I received the book [Volume 1] in the mail a few days ago and opened it up to see what it was like. I was very pleased with what I saw and most of all very excited, because I think, FINALLY, I have found something that will get my kids learning at a faster pace, and with such a simplified format, it will be much less stressful and time consuming. I will be starting them on it today and will let you know how things go in a few weeks. Thank you so much for taking the time and effort to put this wonderful math curriculum together, and for sending it to me so fast!
Thanks,

...I am also getting ready to order your Book V and would like to order another Book 3 for my other son... As a
refresher, I spoke with you on the phone for quite a while before I purchased your program last year and my youngest son has absolutely enjoyed it. I also incorporate some Math on the Level and it seems to unite beautifully. I am hopeful to switch my older son to LMF, as I had him work through your Book II this past spring. He really excelled with it and grasped his fractions wonderfully! Math is NOT his subject. ;)
Thank you for such an amazing program!

The Learn Math Fast Program is an invaluable resource for those of us that teach math daily. It takes even the most complicated type of math, and breaks it down into a clear, step-by-step process. It will facilitate the teacher in their need to differentiate and teach the standards, and it will give a parent the ability to help their child with their homework. Math does not need to be an anxiety producing experience. This program will show you how this is done.

We have only worked through the first few lessons in Chapter 1 due to it being Summertime and Gwyn just starting to move onto 1st grade material. But what we have done so far she finds very enjoyable. She is so very proud of herself when she get the problems correct. I have paged through the rest of the book and I must say I am upset I didn't learn math this way. And I am sure as I go through the book with the children I will be learning and freshening up my math skills along with them and who knows maybe even begin to enjoy math.
A few other things I really enjoy about this book are:
-The way decimals and place values are taught using dollar bills.
-The way that multiplication is taught. The book does not focus on memorizing ALL the times tables.
-The measuring cup and spoon graphics that are used to teach measurements. This makes what they are learning very practical.
-The way that multiplication and division are covered together.
-The way that coins and dollar bills are used throughout the book which cover money learning skills.

I found this anonymous comment on www.thehomeschoolingmom.com:
My oldest son has struggled with math and while in public school he became 2 grades behind his recommended grade level (despite the hours after school each day that I’d spend with him reviewing his lesson and helping with his homework). We found [Learn Math Fast ]this last year...and immediately began using it. We recently tested for academic compliance and he his test revealed he has improved and is working at the recommended grade level for math. It has really taken the fear out of his math studies and boosted his confidence...He is really excelling and our 3rd grader enjoys it too, but math has been his favorite subject and continues to come easy for him.

Below are bits and pieces of emails received by Jacquie. She is referring to her 10 year old son Owen.
. . . I printed a stack of the fraction pages out for him, explained that he hasn't seen it before but wanted him to give it a try. That was it! He took the pages and worked through them over the next few days…I walk out to the table in the morning and his finished work is waiting for me. Amazing!
…My son said, "Oh, I understand math now...this is so easy!" And he was referring to the fraction pages! What a change of heart. I believe God was at work here.
…Owen says you talk to him and you tell him what he needs to do and he does it. I have found in the past he does better orally than with paper and pencil because he doesn't like to take the time to write all the numbers down completely. But by golly, he turned in his fraction page with only one number missing! (Didn't put the 1 in front of the 4 in 14.) Whoo hoo!
I'm not sure if you have heard of Life of Fred…Well, Owen announced today that he even liked it more than Life of Fred. I have to say that shocked me because all the kids (and grown-ups like it)! I'm not sure how, but you are reaching him.
Thanks so much for many reasons! ~Jacquie

Thank you for these books!!!! ... This was my post on Facebook right after I purchased the Algebra book.
"My comment below on this math program is not an advertisement or a way to link to something to get something free or anything like that. I am really this happy with the program and have to let everyone know." "This year we switched to Learn Math Fast Books and I am amazed at how quickly my kids are learning math. I don't normally rant and rave about a product, but I love this program. When we stopped using ABEKA, I didn't want the learning speed to slow down... just the endless worksheets. These books increased the pace and now I think my kids may pass me in math in no time. Trinity [10 1/2 years old] is one test away from being done with book 4 (basic shapes, area, special triangles, circumference, diameter, volume, Pythagorean Theorem, hypotenuse, the 3-4-5 triangle secret, and the metric system). Emma [7 years old] is 1 chapter away from being done with book 2 (fractions, mixed numbers, improper fractions, percentages, decimal numbers, and cross canceling). I just ordered Trinity the Learn Algebra Fast Book. I'm sure she will sail right through it so I will have to buy the Algebra 2 book for this summer/fall...My daughter, Azriel, just will turn 5 this month and I hope to start her on book 1 now that she is reading. ~D.W.

JK: I'll share a couple of things that were said just today:
"Mom, I think I might LIKE math!" (Lora, after doing timed test #17 in 27 sec.)
"O.k., so maybe I can do this after all..." (Anna, looking at the end of the book, previously dubbed "not happening").
You cannot imagine the relief, and even excitement, this program has provided. Math was "the dreaded subject", the thing we all hated, but knew we had to do. While it would be a stretch to say my girls now race to grab their math notebooks, they now sit down with no complaints, and with total confidence that they can do whatever the next lesson is. I have tried several math curricula in our homeschooling, but none as straightforward, easy to use, and SUCCESSFUL as this one. Thank you for sharing it with us--you have changed my daughters' outlook on math.
This is no exaggeration, JK...your work is an academic blessing for us. Thank you again for having the courage, energy, and entrepreneurial spirit to make it available to those of us more "numerically challenged".

Hi JK,
I wanted to let you know that we are loving your math books! We can just see the little light bulbs turn on. We love your books so much that we definitely want to get the Algebra book ... My children who usually cry and struggle with math are actually enjoying learning math!

We got the books and I have been reading each volume. I must say I was super surprised that I even learned something while going through volume 1!!! At first glance I was thinking to myself that the first half of the volume 1 books was going to be too easy for my daughter who is 10 but amazingly after lesson 1 and it taking her over a minute on the times test, I realized she didn't know basic math facts!!! I was shocked. We worked on them yesterday and she was able to pass the times test in 30 seconds by the afternoon. She was very proud to see her time improve. Also I gave my 13 year old the placement test for volume 1 expecting him to get a 100% on it and to my surprise he missed half of all of the problems. This was a HUGE eye opener for me. I am going to have him start volume 1 as well and see if we can figure out just where he stopped mastering concepts. ~M Hardin

Hi there!
I have volumes I and II of the system... Brown covered books so I think these are the first issues. My sister and I are in college and we've forgotten almost EVERYTHING about math since highschool since its been a few years. We're almost through volume II and its helped us so much. What we like the most is how it's not cluttered with filler; it's just clear explainations, examples, and practice tests. I did indeed want two copies of volume III. We need to place in elementary algebra on our placement test, so we figure that this volume will help us get there. We like it enough where we want our own copies of this next edition. Having said that, thank you for this system! I have no idea what we would do without them. They have truly been a God send! Cheers

My son has tried other Algebra programs and this is the first one where he retained anything…Having the worked solutions is one of the perks for me and one of the things I was looking for in a new program. I have been able to understand some things I have long forgotten just by looking at the solutions. Invaluable!!!!! Thank you. Jill

...Lesson 5: Subtracting and adding higher numbers-he figured out the pattern without me telling him. Addition and subtraction was a snap for him. I think he's got it. Lesson 6: Using dimes for +/- he finds it easy and he feels he's learning it better than when public school taught it and he's noticed his own personal improvement with subtraction. Lesson 7: He worked through subtraction easily and borrowing easily. H.B..

“I've worked through Book III myself and I like your approach, you explain things really
clearly and thoroughly and walk through the worked examples well. Really these are
stand-alone books for the student.” ~ Julie B.

“I like the books, especially with children like [my son] who need a lot of hand holding because it is very careful
to instruct and review without too much tiring/boring repetition…” and, “I love the size of the books, keeping it
as simple and short as possible.” ~ Leticia H.

Cathy Duffy's Review of the Learn Math Fast System:
The Learn Math Fast System is a unique approach for teaching math that condenses the process while still stressing conceptual understanding. Presented in only four volumes, the content covers the essential math content for grades 1 through 8...A student completing the first volume will have covered the most important math skills taught through third grade... With only 199 pages of text, worksheets, and tests this is an efficient way to cover basic computation skills.
Content of this book [Volume III] is similar to some of what you find in other texts for grades six, seven, and eight, and it goes farther than most in its instruction on slopes and intercept.
Using this system, students should be ready to tackle algebra at least by eighth grade if not sooner. The thorough and clear explanations might also make this an appealing option for parents with a poor math background who need to learn right along with their children.

The Old Schoolhouse Magazine Review
of The Learn Math Fast System
By Dr. Anne Margaret Wright
...There is much to appreciate in this clever math series. The material is written in an engaging, conversational tone that is easy to understand. The books begin with simple concepts and slowly build to much more complex ideas. There are frequent short tests to check progress--more of a double-check than a long, tedious, pressure-filled examination. The materials are very encouraging and non-intimidating, which is especially helpful for students who are a bit nervous about math...
...The series is also not written with a specific age in mind, so young students can work through the books with help from mom or dad, and older students (or parents) can brush up on their math skills independently. The books would also be a great source for review of concepts later after moving on to more advanced math. Now don't expect fancy books with color photographs! The books themselves use a very simple format with basic black-and-white photos, but the pictures and graphs are plentiful and helpful. Throughout the books and the Answer Key, the materials include the answers and fairly detailed explanations...There are also some nice articles on the website about homeschooling and teaching a fidgety kid.
Perhaps my favorite part about the Learn Math Fast books is the frequent exhortation that if you don't understand, move back to where the math was easy and start over. In other words, keep working with a concept until it is easy and then move on to the next concept. Math principles build on each other, so it is extremely important to not move on until you understand! Many students run into problems by being forced to move on in math before they understood the last concept. Our family would recommend this simple but powerful series of math books, whether you have young children just starting out in math, or older students who need a solid review of important concepts!
